Annual stars and the five yellow – where you need calm this year
Published on October 22, 2026
Besides the fixed house chart, new numbers move through your home every year: the annual stars. They overlay the basic mood of the rooms for one year. The best known and most difficult is the five yellow – a star whose area is best kept calm during the year.
How the annual stars move
Every year a different number stands in the centre, and the others follow a fixed path through the eight directions. The change takes place at the Chinese start of spring around 4 February. Besides annual stars there are also monthly, daily and hourly stars – they act more briefly and more weakly.
The five yellow and the two
The 5 is considered the star of misfortune and obstacles, the 2 the illness star. In their areas you avoid renovation, drilling and digging and preferably do not sleep there. Metal is the classic recommendation – brass or a singing bowl, for example – because metal drains the earth energy of these stars.
Using the good annual stars
Areas with 8, 9 and 1 are especially favourable in period 9 – let there be life: guests, work, plants and light. The 4 supports learning and creativity, the 6 authority and decisions. This turns the annual plan into practical room planning.
